.On a Summer Evening'
Thomas was a prolific animal painter. He entered the Royal Academy Schools. In 1827 he became a teacher in Brussels
and a friend of the famous Belgium Animal painter Verboekhoven, who greatly influenced his style. In 1831 he settled in London
and exhibited at Suffolk Street in 1833, the British Institute 1833-1863, 'Landscape and Cattle' at the Royal Academy in 1833,
this was the first of a series of 266 exhibits shown there continuously unti 1902. This painting of a Shorthorn Bullstanding to the right of                 
 some cows grouped together around a Leafy pollard with a river landscape  was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1899, No. 54
