Edward Lloyd 1818 - 1901
Little is known of this very competent Sporting artist from Ellesmere in Shropshire. He was well known for his Horse paintings and other animals. His paintings hang on the walls of many West Country Estates. he exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1861 and was said by many Art Critics of the period to be a better Artist than 'Landseer'. This painting of the Racehorse 'Shaughraun' the winner of the Dublin Jumping prize and Champion Stone Wall prize in 1880 shows his fine attetion to detail and why he is so collectible.
